Day 2:

We’ll welcome you at Donegal Airport and escort you to your luxury coach and head straight for the home of Clannd and Enya for a welcome gathering, Irish coffees other refreshments and music. A real Irish welcome. We’ll introduce the tour, the guides and offer some Gaeilge language support as your holiday in Donegal gets under way. We’ll then head off on a coastal tour along the Wild Atlantic Way. Stopping at Teach Mhuiris – House of Morris, a traditional thatched home, now a museum in Cnoc Fola/Bloody Foreland, where we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the ancient home. This experience will offer an insight into the ancient culture and traditions of the area you’re going to be experiencing for your vacation. From here we’ll continue on around the coast full of endless golden sandy beaches and mountain ranges towards your guesthouse. Check in and relax before joining the group for dinner. DINNER AT SEAN OG’S LOCAL SEAFOOD RESTAURANT followed by the best traditional Irish music session at Teach Hiudaí Beag – known as the best Irish music session in the country! Yes, the best in the country! Altan and Mairead Mooney are regulars here.

 Day 3:

This day is all about local legends and folklore, you’ll visit places that few others have visited before and learn more about Celtic history, folklore and legends than ever before. Our guide is an expert on the local folklore. Commercial Ireland will give you St Patrick, we’ll tell you about St Colmcille, Ireland’s lesser-known historical giant. Rarely discovered archaeological sites in some of the most stunning locations in Ireland. The legends and folklore of this area have inspired characters in Tolkien books and films. Ray Cross is the tallest and oldest ringed cross in Ireland. There’s so little information about it because its existence has baffled historians and archaeologists but our guide has studied this site for 40 years, this is a unique opportunity. As well as Portal tombs, Dolmens and lots more. A TRADITONAL DINNER AT THE LEGENDARY GWEEDORE BAR – Followed by reenactments of ancient traditions like butter making, rope making, old style music and dance. Expect a very unique local experience and lots of “fireside craic” and a very warm welcome.  

Day 4:

We’ve all heard of the cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare, Donegal has the highest sea cliffs in Europe “Slieve League”, a signature discovery point on the Wild Atlantic Way.  This will be a magnificent experience and still fairly undiscovered. We’ll journey along the edge of Western Europe on one of the most stunning routes, stopping off at selected viewpoints at Silver Strand beach and Malin Beg, as well as Glencolumbcille – the valley of Colmcille. Tonight we enjoy a gourmet DINING EXPERIENCE at the award winning “Danny Minnies Restaurant” in the idyllic coastal village of Annagry, this restaurant is famous for locally sourced produce, grand décor and ambience. After dinner we’ll gather at Teach Billie, Gort a Choirce, one of the oldest pubs in the area for an authentic traditional Irish music and song session, fireside. Leave room for the Guinness, its good and good for you!

 Day 5:

Today feel the wind in your face and the earth beneath your feet with a choice of activities – Golf, island hopping by boat, baking bread, or climb Donegal tallest mountain, it only takes 2 hours and requires a moderate level of fitness. All activities are locally guided. You’ll have the freedom to choose on the day, we operate flexibility and work with the weather. This evening, DINNER AT TEACH JACK Cultural Centre, followed by a Ceilí Mór, this is one of the longest running Céilí’s in the county. We’ll have a dancing teacher for a practise run before the event gets under way, to ensure the best experience. Expect a vibrant evening of music and dance with Mary Jack as your hostess for the evening she’ll take very good care of you.

Day 6 - We really step back in time today as we travel by ferry to Ireland's most remote inhabited island, Tory, just 9 miles off the coast and home to only 100 people. The island has archaeological sites dating back to the Iron Age, a unique culture only found on this island as well as Christian remains dating back to early medieval times. Greeted by the king of Tory himself – Patsy Dan Mac Ruaidhrí, we’ll visit the early monastic sites, the Tao Cross, and immerse ourselves in the history and connect with this infamous island. Guests can choose, at their own expense, to stay overnight, and experience more of the island's tradition and culture, famous for vibrant Ceilí’s and Gaelic song sessions – Would you like to try a whiskey tasting session with the King? Alternatively, we return to the mainland at 5pm, guests to spend this evening as they choose and a free morning tomorrow.

Day 7:

This morning is free to relax. Today you can choose to attend a local GAA match, an Electric bike tour, play golf, a guided sea foraging trip on Gola Island, or spend time with the local genealogist to dig deeper into ancestry. You’ll have the freedom to choose on the day. DINNER AT BONNER’S BAR – A 200 year-old traditional bar set in Mullaghduff, with music and entertainment from the locals.  And if the local team wins, expect a night of Gaelic football celebrations!

Day 8:

Today is all about Castles and we’ll be guided by an accomplished Genealogist. We’ll visit three of the counties castles and grounds, Doe Castle (Ancestral seat of the Mac Sweeny clan) Glenveagh castle, built and owned by the Adair family and Donegal castle home of the powerful clan O’Donnell. DINNER AT LOCH ALTAN HOTEL followed by a unique and enchanted evening of entertainment by the talented “An Crann Óg” – a young traditional music and song group that showcase the rich musical heritage of the Gaeltacht region. This will be special concert just for our visiting American friends.

 Day 9:

Today, we’re travelling East to the walled city of Derry, to enjoy a tour of the historical walls and follow the medieval pilgrim's' trail via guided tour and also visit the many churches in Derry. There will be time to enjoy the city and any last minute shopping as we enjoy our last day together. On the home bound journey we'll stop off at Grianán Aileach, an ancient ring fort, will then travel back to the hotel and enjoy our last night and celebrate with an evening of storytelling, Gaelic song, music and dance at TEACH AN CEOIL/The house of music, tonight you will be special guests.

Day 10:

And all too soon, your vacation in Ireland is over. Airport transfers will be arranged from your guesthouses as you leave lasting memories and have every intention to return to this wonderful county.
